Schaffhausen Institute of Technology (SIT) and go tec! programming course for kids

Acronis Cyber Foundation is proud to partner with Schaffhausen Institute of Technology and Go tec! in Schaffhausen, Switzerland to offer children and young people a chance to explore programming.  In our course, children have the opportunity to be creative, to experiment independently and, together with other children, to experience the joy and fascination for technology and the natural sciences.

The pilot programming course held in September 2021 blended the best of  SIT’s expertise in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) with go tec! ‘s MINT specialization (mathematics, informatics, natural science, technology); bringing Active Learning to the go tec! Laboratory in Neuhausen am Rheinfall.

Kids concentrated well and were motivated in the first three levels of Python programming lessons. The “closed world” and rigorous guidance with Mark.Online platform were perfect for helping them stay focused. After that, kids experienced “open-world” programming (like Scratch or Spheros). Few kids went ahead into the “programming tunnel” and continued to solve other Mark.Online levels.

Aligned in the vision, both SIT and Go tec! spearheaded experiential education in science and technology for different age groups. Go tec! helps make children digitally curious and adept for the future, while SIT addresses global challenges through science, technology, and education. This flagship project relies on a network of industry and other partners, including the world’s top-ranking universities and leading computers, physics, and business scientists.

Go tec! is a success story, but the community is calling for more. SIT can provide a smooth transition from a childhood interest to a brilliant career in science and technology.
