On Saturday, September 7, 2024, the Acronis Leadership team, composed of 40 members, visited the picturesque Vrana Park, a hidden gem just outside the bustling city of Sofia, Bulgaria. Known for its expansive greenery and serene atmosphere, Vrana Park is a favorite escape for many Bulgarians seeking peace and rest. The park’s unique layout features lush landscapes, peaceful paths, charming canals, and tranquil ponds, making it an oasis of natural beauty. At the heart of the park stands the Royal Residence, a stately palace that once served as the summer home for the Bulgarian royal family. Today, both the park and the palace are preserved as cultural and historical landmarks, offering visitors a glimpse into Bulgaria’s royal past while enjoying the natural surroundings.
Over time, some of the bridges over the park’s pond had fallen into disrepair. As part of its commitment to supporting local communities, Acronis donated the wood needed to reconstruct the bridges. With the park’s team handling the construction, Acronis Leadership returned to Vrana Park to paint the new bridges, helping to preserve them against harsh weather conditions. The team enthusiastically spent several hours painting, ensuring the longevity of their contribution to this beloved space.
Following their hard work, the group enjoyed a guided tour of the park’s historical landmarks. They explored the greenhouse, observed the old royal stables (though only from the outside), and took in the majesty of the Royal Residence. Originally built as a summer home for the Bulgarian royal family, the residence offered the team a glimpse into the rich history of the area, with ties to Bulgaria’s monarchs and significant historical events. This tour allowed the team to appreciate not only the natural beauty of Vrana Park but also its historical significance, making the experience even more meaningful.
The newly painted bridges will require a second coat of varnish to ensure proper protection. To this end, the Acronis Bulgaria team has committed to returning to Vrana Park at the end of September to apply the final coat. During this visit, they will also assist with raking leaves and help the park staff with any other tasks that might be needed as the park prepares for the changing season.
