13 employees from the Acronis Serbia team participated in a meaningful initiative by visiting a dog shelter in Belgrade on August 31st. The shelter, which houses over 400 dogs, is supported by the Brigitte Bardot Foundation based in France but still relies heavily on local volunteers to donate their time and effort.
The team collected several bags and boxes filled with medicines, food, dog toys, and clothing—items that were much needed and greatly appreciated by the shelter and brought them there.
However, material donations are just one part of the equation. Often, animals in shelters lack human interaction, which is crucial for their well-being. Recognizing this, the team spent several hours playing with the dogs—something that the shelter’s volunteers, due to limited manpower, cannot always provide. The animals responded with boundless joy, jumping, running, and relishing the attention.
In addition to their time and donations, the team learned about the shelter’s ongoing challenges, such as the need to dig a water canal for the dogs and arrange a protective fence around it. Inspired by their visit, the Acronis Serbia team committed to returning soon to assist with these projects.
The team left the shelter that day with dirty clothes, happy hearts, and a renewed sense of purpose. The visit served as a form of therapy for them as well, proving that giving back is a two-way street.
This shelter, one of the largest private shelters in Serbia, is a testament to the power of community support. However, with the shelter’s population growing faster than animals can be adopted, the need for help and, especially, for adopting the animals, is more urgent than ever. We encourage everyone across the globe to support similar initiatives and help those who cannot help themselves. Your time, attention, and generosity can change lives.
We’re proud of our team’s efforts and look forward to continuing to support the shelter in the future.
