At Acronis, we believe in celebrating the rich heritage of innovation and discovery that has shaped the world. Last year, our team in Bulgaria installed educational boards highlighting Bulgarian scientists and their groundbreaking discoveries at School 34 “Stoyu Shishkov” in Sofia. This year, they expanded this mission by installing similar boards in two additional schools in Sofia: High School Nr. 40 “Lui Pastor” and the National High School Sofia.

These boards are more than just displays—they serve as gateways to Bulgaria’s remarkable contributions to global progress. The key discoveries highlighted include the Bulgarian alphabet, a cornerstone of the country’s cultural identity and linguistic heritage, and Lactobacillus Bulgaricum, a pioneering contribution to healthful fermented foods that has revolutionized global nutrition. Bulgaria’s ancient expertise in metallurgy is exemplified by the discovery of the world’s oldest processed gold, while the development of Nivalin medication stands as a groundbreaking achievement in pharmaceutical science. The country’s contributions to automotive innovations, such as the car airbag and automatic transmission, have redefined vehicle safety, and the invention of the electronic watch transformed the way we measure and perceive time. Additionally, Bulgaria’s role in prototyping the computer laid the foundation for the digital revolution, cementing its place in the history of technological progress.

These boards are designed to inspire students, sparking curiosity and pride in their nation’s scientific achievements. As they walk the halls, students are reminded of Bulgaria’s pivotal role in shaping history and are encouraged to dream big about their own futures.
