In 2022, Acronis proudly supported the construction of SMPK St. Yohanes Kalembu Lona in Indonesia, helping provide students with a safe and modern learning environment. Two years later, the impact is undeniable. With the later addition of a computer lab, students and teachers are now embracing technology like never before, setting a strong foundation for the future.
For many students, learning how to use a computer was once an intimidating challenge. Today, it’s an exciting opportunity. With access to digital tools and IT education, students are developing essential skills for academic and professional success.
“I find great enjoyment in studying computer science. Previously, I lacked confidence in using a computer. However, consistent instruction in typing and document management has greatly improved my skills and self-assurance in my IT capabilities,” says Anastasia Laga, a student at the school.
Beyond student learning, the computer lab has transformed the way teachers teach. Educators now have the resources they need to prepare lessons effectively, administer exams, and implement the Kurikulum Merdeka, Indonesia’s national curriculum.
“The presence of the computer lab has been immensely helpful in the teaching and learning process, especially in preparing lessons according to the Kurikulum Merdeka. Additionally, it supports students in participating in the ANBK assessments organized by the government each year,” shares Yasinta Dapa Wunga, a teacher at the school.
Since the new facilities were introduced, student enrollment has increased by 40%, proving the value of investing in education. Families now see SMPK St. Yohanes as a place where children can access technology, develop new skills, and prepare for a brighter future.
The school has also become a hub for the community—from local residents contributing to infrastructure projects like a futsal field to donations of musical instruments and art supplies that enrich student activities. With more students participating in competitions, scholarships, and extracurricular programs, it’s clear that this school is not just growing—it’s thriving.
