Acronis Cyber Foundation Program expands its cyber safety classes to Brazil, reaching over 100 students in Porangatu

As part of its ongoing mission to create a safer digital world through education, Acronis is expanding its cyber safety initiative across borders. In Bulgaria, the Acronis team has already delivered more than 20 interactive sessions in schools throughout Sofia, equipping students with essential knowledge to navigate the digital landscape securely. Now, this impactful program has reached Brazil.

During a recent visit to the country, Zornitsa Stoyanova, Lead Sales Enablement Manager at Acronis and based in Bulgaria, brought the same engaging cyber safety curriculum to schoolchildren in the town of Porangatu. Her efforts demonstrate how the dedication of one employee can further Acronis’ global commitment to fostering cyber awareness and education worldwide.

The urgency of this mission is underscored by global and national trends. Worldwide, 72% of children have encountered at least one form of online danger, with Latin America reporting some of the highest exposure rates. In Brazil, the risks are especially pronounced. Between January 2022 and May 2023, the country ranked fourth globally in cyberbullying cases, prompting the government to criminalize both bullying and cyberbullying in early 2024. A national survey also revealed that 40% of Brazilian children aged 9 to 17 had witnessed online discrimination. Reinforcing these statistics, the Porangatu sessions revealed that approximately 50–60% of students had already fallen victim to some form of online fraud, often through scams, impersonation, or misleading social media content.

In response to these challenges, Zornitsa conducted three interactive sessions at Escola Municipal Euzebio Martins da Cunha, reaching over 100 students and eight teachers. The classes covered fundamental cybersecurity topics, aiming to raise awareness and empower students with the tools needed to stay safe online.

The response from the participants was overwhelmingly positive. Students actively engaged in discussions, asked thoughtful questions, and shared personal experiences related to online safety. The fact that so many had already been exposed to digital threats only emphasized the relevance and necessity of the training. Teachers also expressed appreciation for the timely and practical content, recognizing its importance in today’s increasingly connected world.

As digital threats continue to evolve, educational programs like these are essential for preparing the next generation to navigate the internet confidently and responsibly. Acronis is proud to lead this important work and invites all partners and communities to join us in our mission to make the digital space safer for everyone.
