On Saturday, March 29, 2025 six spirited Acronis employees took part in the LINK UP MARATHON 2025 in Katsushika City, Tokyo—a charity run with a mission that goes beyond the finish line.

Despite the rainy weather, our team showed up with full energy and enthusiasm, taking on the Half Marathon (21.0975 km) challenge in two formats: some ran the full distance individually, while others teamed up for the Half Relay, completing the distance as a group. Regardless of the format, the Acronis spirit was strong, and the results were impressive—two of our colleagues proudly took home 3rd place finishes in their respective categories!

But this event wasn’t just about athletic achievement. The LINK UP MARATHON supports a deeply meaningful cause—a portion of every entry fee is donated to children’s cafeterias (子ども食堂) across Japan. These community-driven spaces provide more than just meals: they offer safe havens for children, many from single-parent or low-income households, where they can enjoy warm food, social interaction, and emotional support.
With child poverty remaining a challenge in Japan, especially in urban areas, these cafeterias play a vital role in fighting social isolation and ensuring no child is left behind. By participating in this event, every runner becomes part of a wider movement of compassion and solidarity.
We’re incredibly grateful to the organizers of LINK UP MARATHON for creating such a fun, healthy, and responsible way to spend a Saturday—connecting with colleagues, meeting fellow citizens, and supporting a cause that truly matters. And a big thank-you to our Acronis team for bravely running through the rain and helping to make a real difference in the lives of children. You’ve inspired us all!
