On May 1, community spirit was in full force at Acronis. Twenty passionate volunteers 💪 from our Burlington office gathered in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, to make a difference through a cleanup initiative at Melvin G. Rogers Park, a beautiful 27.5-acre pine forest with deep local roots.
A historic local treasure
Gifted to the town in 1959 by the Rogers family, the park was dedicated to outdoor activities and has since become a beloved spot for hikers, families, and nature enthusiasts 👨👩👧👦. Over time, however, the accumulation of litter has marred its beauty — something that could no longer be ignored.
Teamwork with a purpose
Moved by the park’s condition, our team sprang into action 🚀. Together, they collected 15 large bags of trash, weighing approximately 150–200 pounds (70–90 kg). Among the usual litter—coffee cups and plastic straws.
These discoveries raise important questions about personal responsibility and environmental respect. As one volunteer put it: “What goes through people’s minds when they toss trash from their cars? Do they really think someone else will take care of it?”
The Town of Tewksbury kindly provided special trash bags and took care of waste disposal after the cleanup. Their help made our efforts smoother and more effective, ensuring that everything collected was properly handled and the park was left spotless. 🌿
Part of a greater mission 🌟
This event was part of the Acronis Cyber Foundation Ambassadors Program, which regularly engages in meaningful community and environmental initiatives. More than just a team-building exercise, this project was a way to give back and help make the world a little better — one bag of trash at a time.
