Cyber safety and career inspiration at school 194 in Bucharest

As children become increasingly immersed in the digital world, teaching them how to stay safe online is not a luxury. It is a fundamental responsibility that shapes their ability to grow, explore, and thrive securely in today’s society. That is why the Acronis Cyber Foundation Program, in collaboration with Neoteck Services (former Neoteck Grup), delivered an engaging and educational session to 25 bright young minds at School 194 in Bucharest, Romania. The mission was to equip children with practical tools to navigate the online world safely while also sparking their interest in careers in technology.

The class was led by two dedicated professionals: Mihai Cretu, Chief Technology Officer at Neoteck Services, and Silvia Filip, Europe End Customer Acquisition Manager at Acronis. Together, they introduced students to essential concepts such as cyber hygiene, digital citizenship, and recognizing and avoiding online threats. As cyber risks continue to evolve, children are becoming increasingly vulnerable to scams, phishing, and other digital dangers, making early education in this area more crucial than ever.

We see that young people very often fall victim to internet scammers,” shared Mihai Cretu. “Collaborating with Acronis gave me the opportunity to help bridge some of these gaps and truly understand the real needs of children in cyber safety education. Thank you, Acronis, for this important work and collaboration.”

But the session went beyond warnings and risks. Silvia and Mihai opened a window into the world of technology, discussing programming, cybersecurity, robotics, and innovation. By helping children imagine what a future in tech could look like, they planted seeds of curiosity and ambition.

The students were also encouraged to reflect on their own interests and talents. Drawing on the class materials, they explored how to present themselves with confidence, learn more effectively, and develop skills for the future. These activities helped them see how their personal passions could grow into meaningful professional paths. The session emphasized that learning is a lifelong process, and that each person can continue to build their abilities through curiosity, practice, and collaboration.

By combining knowledge of cyber safety with meaningful conversations about skills and aspirations, this session offered more than information. It empowered. It helped 25 students in Bucharest take confident first steps toward a safer and more informed digital journey.
