Empowering education in Sri Lanka through skills, sustainability, and cyber awareness

At Acronis, we believe that access to practical education and digital awareness plays a critical role in building resilient communities. As part of this commitment, Acronis together with our partner Connex Information Technologies was proud to co-fund and support a meaningful initiative for Vidyaloka Madya Maha Vidyalaya Arawwala school at Sri Lanka, focused on both life skills and digital responsibility.

Through this project, we donated essential kitchen and cooking equipment to establish and enhance the school’s Home Science Laboratory. This support enables students to gain hands-on experience in cooking, nutrition, and household management — practical skills that contribute to self-reliance, employability, and long-term well-being. By equipping the lab with the necessary tools, we aim to create an engaging learning environment where students can learn by doing.

In addition to the physical infrastructure support, the initiative also included an educational component aligned with Acronis’ core expertise. Alongside the equipment donation, students were introduced to a basic cybersecurity awareness session, covering why digital security matters, how to use the internet responsibly, and how to stay safe when handling data, mobile devices, and online platforms. As children increasingly interact with digital technologies, early awareness is essential to help them navigate the online world safely and confidently.

Looking ahead, this engagement marks the beginning of a longer-term commitment. We plan to continue supporting the school by delivering online cybersecurity awareness trainings for students, with the goal of providing virtual certifications to selected participants in the next phase. Through these sessions, students will gain foundational knowledge that prepares them for a more secure digital future.

This project reflects the shared values of Acronis and Connex Information Technologies: combining education, technology, and community support to create lasting impact. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the school’s development and to empower students with both practical life skills and essential digital knowledge.
