Project implementation

In 2023, Acronis funded the construction of two computer classrooms at Monte Mercedes School in Sololá, Guatemala, enhancing educational opportunities for the Kaqchiquel, Quiche, and Tzutujile indigenous communities. This initiative aimed to bridge the digital divide by providing 286 students with access to modern technology and education. Previously, the school had only 16 computers, requiring students to travel 4 km to a private academy. Acronis supplied additional laptops and outfitted classrooms for primary and secondary students, allowing well-trained teachers to conduct ICT classes efficiently.

Travel information

Guatemala is a tropical country with distinct wet and dry seasons. The dry season/ summer – November to April – is the best time to visit Guatemala. The air becomes hazy and incredibly hot by mid-March in the lead-up to the rainy season, volcanoes become almost invisible. In the wet season/ winter – May to October, the majority of rain falls in September and October. Rain usually appears as late afternoon downpours, rather than all-day showers.

Read what community says about the project

It’s incredible that this has happened! We really do not have words to thank the architects and all friends and supporters for so much help. We needed a computer room, and now we see the result. We can only say that God repays you for your support of our community
Antonio Gaspar
School Principal
Now we see the result of your good heart. Thank you for helping indiscriminately. Thanks to you, the primary and basic schools now have first-world facilities! The rural school is in better condition than the urban school, and it is only because of you!
Vilma Par
Middle Grade Principal
I like it a lot because the room is very beautiful and creative. Technology will help us learn quickly and get to know the world. When I grow up, I would like to be a pediatrician and help humanity.
Kaydi Maria Menchu Bocel
Student
The technology room will help me research everything I want to learn and stay connected with the world. When I grow up, I would like to be a soccer player or a lawyer to help people.
Juan Carlos Vicente Yaxón
Student
