As Earth Day approaches, it’s the perfect time to reflect on our planet and the steps we’re taking to ensure a sustainable future at Acronis. We believe in the power of collective action and are proud to share some of our recent initiatives that highlight our commitment to environmental responsibility.
Greenhouse gas emissions
We conduct ongoing GHG emissions assessments and management, laying the foundation for our sustainability targets. Last year, with guidance from the Schneider Electric sustainability team, we developed a comprehensive inventory management plan aligned with international reporting standards. This not only helps us track our progress, but also ensures transparency in our efforts.
Environmental days
In 2023, we launched the Acronis Cyber Foundation Ambassadors Program, mobilizing local employee groups for environmental activities such as beach or forest cleanups and other initiatives. Over the past year, we’ve organized 10 environmental days, engaging over 250 volunteers and collecting 3,000+ kg of waste across Bulgaria, Germany, Serbia, Romania and Turkey. These events not only promote eco-friendly practices, they also serve as inspiring activities for families, reinforcing values and priorities.
Promoting sustainable culture
In addition, we’ve made strides in extending the lifespan of our technology from three to four years by promoting the sustainable use of laptops, thereby reducing electronic waste. Our global offices are equipped with recycling facilities, and we actively encourage responsible waste disposal among employees. We’ve even conducted recycling training sessions to ensure everyone is on board with our sustainability efforts.
Operations footprint optimization
The shift to a post-pandemic flexible, hybrid work model has also contributed to our environmental goals. By reducing the demand for physical workspaces, we’ve reviewed our real estate footprint and sought ways to minimize our environmental impact.
Sustainable events
When it comes to events (whether internal or external), we prioritize resource efficiency. From selecting eco-friendly merchandise to avoiding single-use plastics, we strive to make every event as sustainable as possible. Most of our apparel is made from recycled cotton, and we use water bottles crafted from plastic collected from oceans. In the past year alone, we’ve helped remove 4,104 kg of plastic from oceans, equivalent to 360,000 plastic bottles. This plastic is collected from waters and oceans in Brazil, Ghana, Kenya, Egypt, India, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Our sustainability approach is driven by a commitment to creating a sustainable digital future. We collaborate with partners and customers to generate value while responsibly protecting the digital world. By actively contributing to a safer and more sustainable global environment, we aim to maintain our social license to operate.
