Growing a greener future together with 120 new oaks in Bulgaria

More than 40 Acronis team members from offices around the world gathered in Sofia, Bulgaria, for a corporate event filled with collaboration, connection, and shared purpose. To wrap up the experience in a meaningful way, the team headed just outside the city to Kazichene on May 16, 2025, for a unique and impactful team-building activity — planting 120 young oak trees.

Despite the rain, the energy was high and spirits even higher. With determination and muddy boots, the volunteers worked side by side, turning the gray weather into a celebration of teamwork and environmental care. This event marked the second tree-planting initiative co-organized with Club 200, strengthening our shared commitment to sustainability and giving back to the community.

Yuriy Genov, co-founder of Club 200, shared with us: “Five years ago, a group of friends and I decided to start something that would last — not a short-term project, but something truly long-term. That’s how the idea of growing a forest came to life: a 200-year forest from Bulgarian seeds, for future generations. It’s especially meaningful to collaborate with Acronis again here in Kazichene, where these oak trees will help shield the village from the nearby railway and offer a peaceful green space for the community. We look forward to continuing our partnership in future locations as well.”

Oak trees were chosen not only for their symbolism, but for their lasting ecological value. Known for their strength and longevity, oaks reflect the endurance and resilience of the Acronis team. They easily live for 200 years or more — a fact that inspired the name of the NGO — symbolizing commitment across generations. Oaks support biodiversity by providing a habitat for countless species, improve air quality, and help prevent soil erosion with their deep and stable roots. Planting oaks is more than an environmental gesture — it’s a long-term investment in the future.

There’s something truly magical about digging into the earth, surrounded by passionate people, laughter, and the joy of knowing we’re growing something that will last for generations. Oaks are special – just like the amazing colleagues who joined us. See you in 200 years for a walk in the Acronis forest!” shared Desislava Lazarova, Business Manager at Acronis, who coordinated the initiative on behalf of our team and worked closely with the NGO to bring the event to life.
