Thank you for supporting a school in Encantado, Brazil!

In late April to early May 2024, the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul was struck by one of its worst-ever natural disasters. Torrential rains triggered massive flooding, landslides, and mudslides across hundreds of municipalities. The disaster affected millions, resulting in hundreds of deaths, widespread displacement, and severe damage to infrastructure including schools.

Among the places suffering heavy damage was Encantado, where floodwaters destroyed or rendered unusable many outdoor and auxiliary school facilities. Recognizing the urgent need, the Acronis Cyber Foundation Program launched a fundraising campaign shortly after the floods. With generous support from friends and partners, we were able to help one of the affected schools, Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental Antônio de Conto in Encantado.

Thanks to these contributions, a new roof was installed over the school’s canteen, allowing children to eat safely without getting drenched during rain. In addition, a covered outdoor space between classrooms was built to protect students as they move between classes in stormy weather.

“I was happy to be part of this project. Helping to find the right school and arrange the support was a responsibility I took to heart, because I knew how much it would mean for the children. Seeing the cafeteria and outdoor spaces repaired brings me joy, knowing the kids can feel safe and continue their education without worrying about the rain,” says Giselle Baldo, Senior Partner Success Manager at Acronis.

We are deeply grateful to every supporter who stepped up during this crisis. Your generosity made it possible for children in Encantado to continue their education with fewer disruptions even in the rainy season.
