In 2023, the Acronis Cyber Foundation Program, in collaboration with its NGO partners Groundbreaker and Kokoda Track Foundation, expanded Kokoda College in Kou Ku village, Papua New Guinea, with a new building housing two classrooms and an office area. Equipped with tablets, solar lighting, and a sustainable energy system, these classrooms offer access to second-chance high school educational pathways.

As per the Kokoda College administration, the addition of the double classroom has been instrumental in enhancing the accessibility and quality of education. The double classroom has had a profound impact on student engagement, concentration, and academic performance. By providing a comfortable and conducive learning environment, students are empowered to fully engage with their studies and achieve academic excellence.

In 2022, grade 12 students achieved an average of 75% in their assignments, with an overall assignment average across all grades of 73%. In 2023, grade 12 students achieved an average of 82% in their assignments, with an overall assignment average across all grades of 75%, which is a testament to the impact of this innovative space on student learning outcomes. The enrollment rate increased from 213 students in 2022 to 225 students in 2024.

John Yandawai, a teacher at Kokoda College, attests to the profound impact of the double classroom, stating, “I have seen a lot of proud parents from very remote areas coming in to show appreciation and gratitude. They are so happy when one of their sons and daughters who were shut out from mainstream studies is accepted here.”
