Helping seniors stay safe online in Romania

Around 35 seniors recently took part in a cyber safety class in Iași, Romania, organized by Silvia Filip in collaboration with the Romanian Institute for Active Aging and The National Institute for Research & Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest.

The session focused on helping older adults better understand common online risks and adopt safer digital habits. As more services, communication channels, and daily activities move online, cyber awareness is becoming increasingly important for people of all ages.

Through practical guidance and real-world examples, participants learned more about recognizing online threats, protecting personal information, and navigating the digital world with greater confidence. The class also provided an opportunity for discussion and questions, helping attendees apply cyber safety concepts to situations they may encounter in everyday life.

With about 35 seniors participating, the initiative demonstrates the value of community-based cyber education and highlights the important role employees can play in sharing knowledge and supporting digital inclusion across generations.
