As Ukrainians struggle to flee from the conflict, it’s important for everyone globally to contribute to various humanitarian efforts to make these transitions as easy as possible for the people of Ukraine. When the world seems darkest, there are always those whose compassionate actions light a path to happiness and prosperity.
These are the stories of some of those shining lights, and what they do to make these hard times easier for those most affected.
Katya Turtseva – VP of Communications with Acronis in the United States of America
When Katya heard about Masha Ostroukh, a one-year-old girl from Ukraine in need of heart surgery, she knew exactly what she needed to do.
Sadly, Katya was all too familiar with this situation, as she has a son with a heart condition. Her birthday in 2017 was spent in a hospital worrying about her own son’s heart while hers slowly broke.
During those stressful days, she realized she wanted to use her birthdays not just as a day for personal celebration but as a way to give back to others in need. Her new birthday ritual of raising donations for children in need was formed with this mindset.
Since 2018, with the help of her friends and followers, Katya has helped save ten children. Her actions are a strong reminder of how one person can make a huge difference in people’s lives, especially in dire times such as now.
Sweet Masha needs urgent surgery and a Contegra Medtronic prosthetic, costing over $8,000. With the help of Katya, her followers and associates, this little girl has the potential to live a healthier, happier life. You too can help, even from your own homes.
