Project implementation

The community of Chibwe, Malawi, received its first school in 1982 with just two classrooms serving 667 students from grades 1 to 8. In July 2022, the Acronis Cyber Foundation Program team arrived and, with the help of a Project Leadership Committee of 12 people from Chibwe, started construction of a new school building which was later completed by the villagers. The committee organized volunteers and contributed 4,637 volunteer work days to the project. Since the opening of the new school, 230 previously withdrawn students have returned, and the school has received authorization from the Malawian government to appoint three additional state-trained teachers, bringing the total to 10.

Our NGO partner, buildOn, will oversee the project and guarantee its sustainability in the future.
